HOPE is defined in the Websters dictionary as :To want something to happen or be true and think that it could happen or be true.

HOPE appears in the Bible too, and countless quotes and books have been written about hope.

Romans 12:12 – Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

Romans 8:24-25– For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

1 Corinthians 13:13 – And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

How does HOPE affect us in our day to day lives?

HOPE is a funny thing to explain , it’s the thing that keeps us going, the feeling that gives us positivism, the feeling that makes up get and up, no matter how bad our lives or our situations are.HOPE rises and fades as situations come and go, a constant dance of negativity and positivity.

HOPE can even be a dream , a thought that will make you think ,things may just go right. The next bend will be better. It’s the little window of time that we have to feel better, before it we hear bad news or our fears are confirmed.

If you speak with a person who is sick , HOPE is what makes them say that a medication will work , or a new doctor or hospital or the next surgery  may change their situation.

If you speak with an unemployed person , HOPE is what makes them say that they  have applied for a job , or just got  called for an interview or a recruiter called with some options or they were  happy they  just networked with someone.

A divorce or a death are all horrible things , but HOPE gets many people through these times of trauma.

Divorcees  are HOPEful they will meet their soul mates finally , widows and widowers are HOPEful their partners have gone on to a better life and are watching and protecting from above.

On a day to day basis, HOPE can help us get through a mundane day. I HOPE there is no traffic today. I HOPE my workload will be bearable, I HOPE my family will be safe on the road,I HOPE I get a good parking spot at the store,I HOPE I get all my errands done.

See? HOPE automatically makes me feel better.

So who created hope? God? Our brains, as a coping mechanism? Whatever it may be , it is a wonderful thing to have and cultivate in our lives.

Keep the HOPE alive!
